So, how should you clean your teeth and your aligners during treatment?

Cleaning Your Teeth: The Fundamentals of At-Home Care

When you remove your aligners to clean your teeth, be sure to use a soft-bristle toothbrush and a non-abrasive, fluoride toothpaste. Brush your teeth twice a day.

Cleaning Your Aligners: The Other Half of the Equation

It’s essential to clean your aligners each day to avoid bacteria buildup. Rinse them with warm water when you take them out, and brush them with mild soap and a soft toothbrush. Or you can use a non-abrasive toothpaste. Rinse them thoroughly before putting them back in your mouth.

Be sure to avoid hot water, abrasive toothpaste, or harsh cleaners, as they can damage or warp your aligners.

Handling Aligners on the Go

When you leave your house, make sure you have what you need to care for your aligners on the go. Pack an emergency essentials kit that contains a toothbrush, toothpaste, and a case for your aligners.

Also, if you can’t brush right away after eating, rinse your mouth with water to rinse away food particles and bacteria.
