Get Your Confident, Healthy Smile Back with Dental Implants

Patients with gaps in their smile where teeth used to be can benefit from several different types of treatments. The best solution for many of our patients, frequently involves dental implants. We have been placing implants for more than 15 years.

Dental implants are posts made from biocompatible titanium material. They are positioned in the jaw to naturally integrate into the surrounding bone. Once the implant is restored, the replacement tooth is held in place like a natural tooth. Implant-supported teeth are designed to work like natural teeth and blend seamlessly with your smile.

We appreciate that patients have many questions about this form of tooth replacement – how implants are placed, what makes them different, and if they are suitable candidates. We are happy to answer these and other questions and look forward to meeting you in person.

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are natural, durable, and modern artificial tooth replacements. Implant systems are made of three parts. They work together to create a beautiful, efficient dental restoration:

  • Implant post
  • Implant abutment
  • Porcelain crown

The implant post is made from titanium, a “tissue-friendly” material that naturally fuses with your jawbone. The implant abutment is also made from titanium, and is connecting part between the implant post and the porcelain crown. The porcelain crown then “restores” the dental implant and completes your functioning tooth. Dr. Robertson will design your dental implant to fit perfectly and look completely natural.

How do implants compare to traditional tooth replacements?

Traditionally, bridges, partials, and dentures were the only options available for replacing missing teeth. While these options can give patients a complete smile, they don’t offer the permanence and stability of dental implants anchored in the jawbone. Implant supported dentures present a cost-effective alternative to traditional tooth replacement for individuals who are missing many teeth. A few implants can be strategically positioned in the jawbone to support a maximum number of teeth as part of an implant-supported bridge or denture. This approach helps to contain the costs of the procedure. Implants are also built to last, making them a great value.

Are dental implants right for me?

We won’t know for sure what option is best for you until after Dr. Robertson examines your mouth. This evaluation includes necessary digital x-rays and a CT scan.
