This provides an excellent advantage to all of our patients. Allowing the two doctors to coordinate care and provide the most effective treatment for the patient.

The causes of tooth pain are as unique as our patients. When you experience tooth pain, we encourage you to call immediately. Postponing your call can mean more discomfort, a worsened condition, and even tooth loss.
Tooth pain is an indication that something is seriously wrong with your oral health. When you call our office with a dental emergency, we will ask questions to help us prepare for your visit. Where is your pain located? Did you break a tooth? Is your tooth sensitive to temperature?
Your Dental Emergency Appointment
Once you arrive in our office, we will take a radiograph of the affected area. This will allow us to determine the cause of your tooth pain. Some of the most common causes are:
- Infection (root canal)
- Fractures
- Cracked tooth
- Deep decay
- Gum problems
- Bite problems
- Broken restorations
- Lost restorations
When we take an x-ray, it helps us to identify the cause of your discomfort so we can treat it properly. At your emergency exam, we will take the steps necessary to make you comfortable. If you require additional treatment, we may need to set up another appointment.
If you are a patient of record experiencing dental pain, call us right away. Our helpful team will do everything they can to restore your health and comfort.
Your out-of-pocket expense is determined by the insurance plan your employer has purchased for you. Each plan contains different waivers purchased by your employer and is never a guarantee of benefits. If necessary, we send a pre-determination to your insurance to get a close estimate of what your out-of-pocket expense will be.

We never want our patients to experience pain. That is why we recommend routine exams and professional dental cleanings. When we have the opportunity to see you on a regular basis, it allows us to stop most dental conditions before they cause discomfort.
If you experience gum or tooth pain, you should call us right away. We will ask you a series of questions to determine how to best handle your dental emergency. We will ask questions about when the pain started, what you were doing if it is worse when exposed to hot or cold, if you lost a dental restoration, as well as a series of questions to help us prepare for your appointment.
Scheduling Your Appointment
Chances are if you are in pain during business hours, we will try to see you on the same day. If we talk to you after hours, we will get you in as soon as we can and suggest ways to help you manage your pain until we can arrange for an emergency exam.
Tooth pain is an indication that something is wrong. Do not postpone your call because tooth pain rarely resolves on its own. We will diagnose and treat the cause of your pain, restoring your dental health. Call Irvine Dental and be seen by Dr. Jeffrey C. Robertson, DDS for your tooth pain.
When it comes to insurance, we are a Delta Premier Provider and a CIGNA DNSP Provider (Cigna Dental Network Savings Program).
We are considered an out-of-network provider for most other plans but if you have a PPO plan we can take your insurance. Being an in-network provider for every insurance limits the type of treatment and quality of care we can provide for our patients.
When patients come to our office, they receive the time and attention required to achieve and maintain a healthy mouth. Our hygienists have a full hour with our patients at each hygiene appointment. We use high-quality materials, great dental labs, and Dr. Robertson provides high quality, meticulous dentistry.
Making Payments
Most dental plans provide the same yearly maximum amount and percentage of coverage in or out of network. The difference is the fee schedule. Our fees are reasonable and customary for our area and are approved by Delta Dental. It is the old saying you get what you pay for.
If you have questions about your specific insurance coverage, we can help! Give us a call and we can answer those questions for you or visit our financial page here.
