Straight Talk About a Great Way for Adults to Straighten Their Teeth

We feel that cost concerns should never stand in the way of the treatments you need and want. However, we understand it remains an important consideration for many patients.

Orthodontic alternatives to braces, such as Invisalign®, also make it easier to keep your teeth healthy and looking great. Properly-aligned teeth are simply easier to floss and brush.

See below for answers to some of the frequently asked questions related to Invisalign.

How is Invisalign® different from other types of orthodontic treatments?

Teens and adults enjoy the many benefits of Invisalign® over conventional “fixed” braces made from silver-colored metal. The appliances that actually “do” the straightening are clear aligner trays. They slip into your mouth and conform to the unique contours of your teeth and gums. They are made from smooth, clear plastic. So, Invisalign® aligners do not rub up against the inside of the mouth. Since the plastic is clear, no one has to know that you are straightening your teeth!

Additionally, Invisalign® aligners are not secured to the teeth. They can be removed during eating. You can enjoy the foods you love and clean your teeth effectively and easily without brackets and wires getting in the way.

What is the process?

First, we take impressions and photos of your teeth. Specialized software is then used to create a treatment plan. A virtual model of your mouth is made. Our patients love that they can see precisely how their smiles will look after treatment. This information is sent to our dental lab partner. They will create your initial sets of aligner trays. Consistent yet gentle pressure is placed on the teeth to gradually reposition them while each aligner is worn for around one to two weeks. You will notice an increasingly improved smile throughout the treatment process!

Is Invisalign® expensive?

At the office of Jeffrey C. Robertson, DDS, we feel that cost concerns should never stand in the way of the treatments you need and want. However, we understand it remains an important consideration for many patients.

While the total cost of treatment is comparable to braces. Most patients find Invisalign® to be a better value due to the many benefits. We will walk you through the factors that can influence the cost of treatment. For instance, more complex bite-oriented problems require treatment with more aligner trays and generally cost more than straightforward cosmetic realignment.

Bear in mind that many dental insurance plans cover at least a portion of Invisalign® treatment. Alternative payment options, such as financing, can also help with out-of-pocket expenses.
