Our sedation dentistry options help relax our patients and numb sensations - including discomfort. If you’re interested in sedation dentistry for your next appointment or procedure, Dr. Robertson and his team can discuss your options with you.
Dr. Robertson is well-known in Orange County as the "Pain-Free Dentist." He is not your typical dentist - or even your typical sedation dentist. We are proud to practice anxiety-free dentistry, and patients come to us from all over because of Dr. Robertson's stellar reputation and gentle touch. We welcome fearful patients to our practice and have plenty of experience turning their lives around.
Non-IV Conscious Sedation
Conscious sedation is usually administered for more significant dental procedures or when the idea of going to the dentist for a procedure brings on feelings of fear or anxiety. You will be scheduled to come in prior to your treatment time for the delivery of the oral medication. Oral conscious sedation is as easy as taking an aspirin, and you will feel relaxed and at ease.
For the entire procedure, you are awake and able to ask questions or respond to instructions from Dr. Robertson, but you will feel relaxed. Additionally, you may not recall your procedure afterward.
Oral conscious sedation is extremely safe and easy. It’s important to remember that when you receive oral conscious sedation, you will need someone else to drive you to and from our office, as you will be unable to safely handle a vehicle.
Nitrous oxide is a shorter-term, less intensive form of sedation dentistry. Once you arrive and are settled comfortably in the dentist's chair, a special mask will be placed over your nose that will supply you with nitrous oxide, also known as “laughing gas.” While you may not actually laugh, you will definitely feel relaxed and even mildly euphoric.
We are able to control the amount of nitrous oxide you receive so please notify our office if you know that you happen to be particularly sensitive or resistant to nitrous oxide.
Due to nitrous oxide’s shorter period of effect, you will be able to drive yourself to and from the appointment, easily returning to your regular day.
We will work with you to ensure that our sedation options meet your needs and help you overcome your fears. Oral conscious sedation or nitrous oxide, combined with our very comfortable office and our hospitable, kind team, will have you feeling relaxed in no time.
We are accustomed to caring for patients who haven’t been to the dentist in years or who have fears about dentistry in general. Don’t delay the health of your smile any further. Call our office today for your consultation with Dr. Robertson.
